Indonesia’s Tourism Ministry hosted seven representatives of Chinese travel agencies and tour operators in Labuan Bajo and Bali on October 19–25 to encourage them to develop holiday packages for Chinese travellers.

Ni Made Ayu Marthini, the ministry’s deputy for marketing, said Labuan Bajo was the main destination on the itinerary, reflecting efforts to direct more international visitors towards priority destinations outside Bali. She said the ministry hoped participants would create and sell packages tailored to Chinese preferences.

In Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, the group inspected tourism facilities and luxury accommodation, sailed on a traditional pinisi schooner and visited Padar Island, Pink Beach and Komodo Island. The representatives also met 14 Indonesian tourism businesses, including airlines, hotels and travel agents, at networking sessions supported by the Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority and Manggarai Barat Tourism Office.

The Bali programme centred on Ubud’s cultural, wellness and culinary offerings. Direct air services connect Bali with mainland China, including China Southern Airlines’ route between Guangzhou and Denpasar.

Statistics Indonesia recorded 1.34 million Chinese tourist arrivals in 2025, making China the fourth-largest source market behind Malaysia, Australia and Singapore. Arrivals from China totalled 1.05 million during January–August 2026, up 16.46 per cent from 905,002 in the corresponding months of 2025.
