Vietnam’s airports handled 110.4 million passengers in the first 10 months of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 10.2%, Nhan Dan reported. International traffic rose 11.3% to 42.8 million passengers, while domestic traffic increased 9.5% to 67.7 million.

Against that backdrop, CAAV Director General Uong Viet Dung issued a document on October 24 asking airlines to study and prepare plans for restoring, maintaining and expanding their domestic networks. The request aims to support air transport’s contribution to socio-economic development, tourism and regional connectivity.

Airport cargo volumes reached approximately 1.6 million tonnes, representing growth of 9.6% from a year earlier. International freight increased 15.4% to 1.2 million tonnes, but domestic freight fell 7% to 347,600 tonnes.

Vietnamese carriers transported 50.2 million passengers over the period, a rise of 7%. Their domestic services carried 33.8 million passengers, an increase of 9.5%, while international services carried 16.3 million, a gain of 2%.

The airlines also transported 387,700 tonnes of cargo, an increase of 1.6%. International shipments rose 9.7% to 214,000 tonnes, whereas domestic shipments declined 7% to 173,800 tonnes.

The Vietnamese-registered aircraft fleet numbered 261 on October 15, 2026, up by 26 from 2025.
