The 2026 World Travel Awards selected Bali as Asia's Leading Wedding Destination, giving the Indonesian island seven victories over eight years. According to the awards website, the other contenders were the Philippines’ Cebu, Thailand’s Koh Samui and Malaysia’s Langkawi.

Bali’s earlier run of wins stretched from 2019 to 2023. After Cebu received the distinction in 2024, Bali took it back in 2025.

A separate award changed hands in 2026: Koh Samui ended Bali’s seven consecutive years as Asia’s Most Romantic Destination.

Wedding venues on Bali range from seaside resorts to inland accommodation around Ubud. Other resort areas with options include Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Sanur, according to local travel magazine Now Bali. Bali Discovery reported that the island’s scenery and local culture contributed to its appeal among couples choosing to marry overseas.

The awards were presented in the Maldives at the World Travel Awards’ Asia, Oceania and Indian Ocean gala. They honour destinations alongside businesses operating in tourism, hospitality and travel.
