Hoi An schedules international lantern festival for December 3–6
Lantern-making workshops and art installations are planned alongside heritage events, with wider celebrations extending into early 2027.

Hoi An will stage its International Lantern Festival from December 3 to 6, the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre said. The event, themed “Hoi An – Colours of Heritage,” forms part of a cultural calendar that continues into early 2027.
Planned locations include An Hoi Sculpture Garden and Hoai River Square, as well as streets in the ancient town and areas beside the Hoai River. Activities include lantern-making workshops, art installations, an exhibition exploring lanterns and rebirth, and night-time lantern activities. The festival aims to support traditional lantern-making and cultural heritage while creating more space for creative work.
Hoi An will also mark Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day through activities running from November 20 to December 5. Plans include a national seminar examining Hoi An’s trading-port role and the Quang region, heritage exhibitions and the inauguration of a restoration and upgrading project at Hoi An Prison.
At My Son Sanctuary, the “Echoes of My Son” programme is scheduled for November 15 and December 12. Performances at tower groups B and C will begin at 9am and 2:45pm, featuring Cham songs, folk dances and the Ciet group dance.
The wider calendar includes a Christmas market planned for Ariyana Da Nang on December 4–6, with more than 80 stalls. New Year events are scheduled from December 30, 2026, to January 3, 2027, at locations including Hoi An, Tam Ky and Da Nang’s Bach Dang pedestrian street. A Da Nang Concert is scheduled at the Da Nang Museum on January 1, 2027.
