Vietnam and India have agreed to double the number of direct flights connecting the countries, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Trinh Minh Manh said, opening opportunities for carriers on both sides to add routes.

Manh discussed the agreement at an October 21 seminar in India jointly organised by the Vietnamese Embassy and Vietravel. He said cooperation among businesses and tourism partners would help increase visitor traffic in both directions.

Vietnam has also made e-visas widely available to Indian citizens. Tourism authorities from the two countries maintain regular discussions and cooperation arrangements aimed at safeguarding business interests and supporting safe operations for travel companies.

Akruti Jindal, a representative of Indian online travel platform MakeMyTrip, told Vietnam News Agency that additional direct routes had eased travel and helped Vietnam gain popularity among Indian visitors. Jindal said arrivals from India could exceed 1 million in 2026 and potentially grow by nearly 70% in 2027.

Tran Thi Thuy Trang, Deputy Director of Vietravel DMC, said the company had introduced two product lines targeting India's middle-class travellers: tours covering major Vietnamese destinations and MICE tourism. The company is also collaborating with partners to promote destinations in India to Vietnamese travellers.
