Phuket is preparing for the InterPride General Meeting and World Conference 2026 by training public employees, hospitality staff and local businesses. The programme began on October 21 ahead of the conference, which will be the first of its kind in Asia.

InterPride’s published timetable lists October 28 for preliminary activities, followed by the main gathering from October 29 to November 1. LGBTQIAN+ representatives will discuss community empowerment, human rights and gender equality.

Attendance is expected to range from 400 to 500 delegates representing more than 70 countries. More than 1,000 volunteers from Thailand are expected to help welcome them, and Thailand plans to formally submit its WorldPride 2030 hosting bid during the gathering.

TransTalents Consulting Group and Dusit Thani College provided speakers for training on cultural awareness, inclusive hospitality and international service standards. Attendees practised responding to different visitor needs through simulated situations.

Organisers said the sessions were especially relevant for immigration officers, volunteers, hotel workers, retailers and event personnel because they may deal directly with delegates.

Deputy Governor Romdon Hayiawae attributed Phuket’s selection to collaboration across government, business and civil society. He said preparations should cover personnel as well as facilities, noting workers’ role in delivering services that are safe, inclusive and welcoming.
