Vietjet plans to introduce routes linking Da Nang with Osaka in Japan and Jakarta in Indonesia on December 20, as the airline and the Vietnamese city seek to strengthen air connections and tourism promotion.

Their plans include displaying imagery of Da Nang’s tourism attractions on Vietjet aircraft and using the carrier’s media channels to reach passengers travelling domestically and internationally. They also aim to extend connections to markets including India, Australia, Central Asia and the Middle East.

The cooperation will include developing tourism offerings centred on resorts, golf, conferences and events. At the signing ceremony, Vietjet representative Do Xuan Quang said the carrier would continue cooperating with Da Nang on air connectivity and destination promotion, alongside trade, investment, cargo transport, logistics and digital transformation.

From January to October, Vietjet carried more than 2.3 million passengers to Da Nang across more than 13,000 flights. Its network covers seven domestic routes out of the city’s eight, plus five scheduled international connections out of 19 and 13 charter routes. It averages 33-38 flights daily.

Da Nang received over 17 million visitors during that 10-month period, a year-on-year increase of 24.5 per cent. Of those visitors, more than 8.3 million were international arrivals.
