Kuantan will host the fifth World Islamic Tourism Conference (WITC) on Nov 5 and 6, 2026, with discussions focused on tourism catering to Muslim travellers. The Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) is organising the event, which has previously been held in the Klang Valley.

Organisers expect 240 international participants representing nearly 40 countries. Speakers, delegates and students are among those expected to attend, while the conference will bring policymakers together with tourism businesses and industry leaders.

ITC director-general Mohammad Faisal Abu Suaib Khan said the discussions would examine new tourism opportunities, cooperation within the industry and the development of Muslim-friendly offerings. He said the aim was to recognise Muslim travellers' needs while keeping travel welcoming to people of all backgrounds.

A related event, the Muslim-Friendly Assurance Symposium and Knowledge, is scheduled for Nov 4. Academics, researchers and industry representatives will discuss current issues, exchange research findings and consider opportunities to collaborate.

WITC Mart will run from Nov 6 to 8, allowing businesses, including small and medium-sized enterprises, to present products and services and seek business opportunities. ITC operates under the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.
