Thai Nguyen opens international tea festival with trade and tourism events
The festival runs until November 7, with a tea forum, beverage competition and visits to local tea-growing areas.

Vietnam’s International Tea Festival – Thai Nguyen 2026 opened on October 30, combining cultural performances with activities focused on tourism, trade and investment. Organisers said the programme aims to promote Vietnamese tea and strengthen its position in international markets.
The opening also marked the province’s 195th anniversary and the addition of knowledge associated with cultivating and processing Thai Nguyen tea to the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
At the ceremony, General Secretary and President To Lam called for consistent quality, traceable origins and product safety to underpin the reputation of local tea. He urged support for cooperatives, companies and households to apply scientific methods and develop products suited to modern tastes while retaining the tea’s distinctive characteristics.
The International Tea Forum on October 31 covers market trends, technology, digital transformation, branding and investment. An exhibition in a pedestrian zone features teas from across Vietnam, including products from Tan Cuong, La Bang, Vo Tranh, Dong Hy and Dong Phuc, the province’s five renowned tea-growing regions.
Scheduled for November 1–4, the World Master Tea Viet Nam competition focuses on beverage creation, tea culture, business and food pairings. A separate culinary area offers regional dishes, tea-based creations and cooking demonstrations.
Programmes in tea-growing areas include preparation and tasting activities in Tan Cuong on October 31, plantation and cultural experiences in La Bang on November 1, and Shan Tuyet tea, folk singing and bowl dancing in Dong Phuc on November 6.
Six special heritage trains operate between Hanoi Station and Luu Xa Station from October 30 to November 7, offering onboard introductions to tea culture and Thai Nguyen’s intangible heritage.
