Indonesia eyes more than 16 million foreign tourist visits in 2026
Deputy Tourism Minister Ni Luh Puspa said international concerts and sporting events were helping attract overseas visitors.

Indonesia could surpass its target of 16 million foreign tourist visits in 2026, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa said, citing international concerts scheduled for the final months of the year.
Puspa said Kanye West’s October concert attracted more than 20,000 foreign tourists. She also pointed to a Guns N’ Roses concert in November and a later BTS performance as reasons for her optimism. International sports competitions, including MotoGP, were also drawing overseas visitors, she said.
Citing Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Puspa said Indonesia recorded more than 12 million foreign tourist visits from January to September, an increase of 5.01 per cent. Domestic tourist movement rose by more than 4 per cent.
Puspa also said tourism activity was becoming more geographically dispersed after previously being concentrated heavily in Bali. She reported growth in foreign visits across the 10 Priority Tourism Destinations and the three regenerative destinations of Bali, Jakarta and the Riau Islands.
She attributed progress in the tourism sector to a combination of major events held in different regions and the attractions offered by the destinations themselves.
