Virgin Atlantic opens first Thailand route with Phuket flights
The seasonal Heathrow service runs three times weekly and is scheduled to continue until March 26, 2027, according to Thailand’s tourism authority.

Phuket became Virgin Atlantic’s first destination in Thailand on October 18, when the airline began direct services from London Heathrow. The launch coincides with the island’s high tourism season, with the first aircraft reaching Phuket the morning after its departure.
London departures operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays under flight number VS214. Flights back to Heathrow, numbered VS215, leave Phuket on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The Tourism Authority of Thailand said the seasonal route is scheduled to continue until March 26, 2027.
The published timetable gives a 3.45pm departure from London and a 9.55am arrival in Phuket the following day. In the opposite direction, aircraft are scheduled to depart at 11.45am and reach Heathrow at 7.25pm.
Virgin Atlantic is using a Boeing 787-9 with 258 seats: Upper Class has 31, Premium has 35 and Economy has 192. To mark the inaugural service, the airline posted celebration photographs on its official Facebook page showing crew with Thai flags and performers wearing traditional Thai khon costumes.
