New Miri–Subang air service to launch on December 1
Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Chiew Choon Man said he had earlier discussed introducing the route with Batik Air.

A new service between Miri and Subang will start on December 1, 2026, giving Miri residents an additional flight option for travel to the Klang Valley. Flights will connect Miri with Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (LTSAAS).
Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Chiew Choon Man welcomed progress on the route in an October 13 statement. Chiew, also Miri’s Member of Parliament, said he had previously held talks with Batik Air about establishing the connection.
He said residents travelling for employment, commerce, study, healthcare or family matters would benefit. The airport’s location close to Kuala Lumpur’s centre and nearby areas would make access easier and simplify onward journeys by road, he added.
Chiew said the connection would bring Miri closer to Malaysia’s key economic centres. He also said stronger air links could help tourism and businesses, ease journeys to the Klang Valley and provide opportunities to encourage economic activity locally.
