Da Nang plans to build longer international visitor itineraries around its beaches, golf courses, food, heritage and wellness services to encourage more spending. Ho Ky Minh, the city administration’s standing vice-chairman, said improving experiences and extending visits would take priority over increasing foreign arrivals.

Despite years of steady growth in overseas arrivals, foreign tourists averaged less than two days per trip during 2026’s first nine months. The city intends to connect its attractions with Hoi An, Hue and other central Vietnamese destinations, while developing offerings for specific overseas markets.

The proposals were discussed at the Da Nang International Tourism Festival 2026. The Da Nang Tourism Association said more than 300 tourism providers joined networking activities with 550 buyers from Vietnam and abroad.

South Korea ranked first among overseas visitor markets, with China second and India third. South Korean travellers are important customers for golf and resort holidays, while the city sees opportunities to attract Indian visitors for weddings, conferences and family travel.

Nearly 175,000 golf rounds were played during 2026’s first half, a year-on-year rise of 5.6 per cent. During that period, more than 28,400 visitors came with 101 MICE groups. Arrivals from Russia and other Commonwealth of Independent States countries topped 411,000 during 2026’s first eight months, increasing 94.2 per cent year on year.

Vietnam Tourism Association standing vice-chairwoman Cao Thi Ngoc Lan urged businesses to create distinctive experiences and fuller service packages. She said networking should result in contracts, cooperation agreements and firm commitments to bring visitors. Da Nang Tourism Association chairman Cao Tri Dung called for closer study of each market’s needs rather than simply marketing services already available.
