Vietnam’s Lao Cai province hosted the opening of the 2026 Northwest Tourism Fair on October 16, alongside an exhibition of One Commune, One Product (OCOP) goods. The venue is Golden Field Square, in Nghia Lo ward.

The fair’s October 15–21 schedule includes 78 booths presenting regional tourism, food and culture, plus 20 booths for OCOP products. Four themed areas bring together performances, tourism-related OCOP goods, regional travel offerings and cultural traditions.

Traditional dress, crafts and folk performances are among the attractions, alongside information on destinations and travel services. A cultural section represents seven localities: Nghia Lo, Trung Tam, Cau Thia, Lien Son, Van Chan, Tu Le and Mu Cang Chai. It also includes a space devoted to books and reading.

The programme features a culinary competition final in which local meals and dishes are displayed and judged, as well as cooking demonstrations. The fair is linked to the 2026 Muong Lo Culture and Tourism Festival and the expanded Northwest’s tourism cooperation programme for 2026.

Tran Xuan Cuong, director of Lao Cai’s provincial Centre for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, said the event was intended to help authorities, associations, travel businesses and OCOP producers form partnerships and widen distribution. He said the centre pledged support for businesses, cooperatives and business households seeking market access, brand promotion and digital trade promotion tools.
