Sir Bruno Serato, chef/owner of Anaheim White House and founder of the nonprofit Caterina’s Club, will be honored with the 2024 President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his humanitarian efforts. He is being recognized for feeding Southern California’s hungry kids, finding permanent housing for families in need and training at-risk youth for careers in the hospitality field. He will receive the award by a representative for the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation on March 18 while Serato will be serving the nonprofit’s 10 millionth meal at his Anaheim White House restaurant.
“I am more than honored to receive this prestigious award that has been presented to so many selfless individuals over the past two decades,” said Serato. “I accept this honor with humility and gratitude and wish to use this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers, donors, supporters and others who have contributed to continuing to fulfill Caterina’s Club’s mission of service.”
The President’s Lifetime Achievement Award is an annual honor bestowed by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation, an organization that was created via executive order by President George W. Bush in January 2003. Its mission is to encourage volunteerism and to recognize the significant contributions Americans make through service and civic participation.
For his work on behalf of Caterina's Club, Serato has earned international publicity including profiles in People Magazine and has appeared on countless TV news and talk shows including "The Drew Barrymore Show," "Access Hollywood," "CBS Evening News" and "NBC Nightly News." Among his many honors: CNN Hero, knighted by both the Italian government and the House of Savoy, Ellis Island Medal of Honor, a papal blessing from Pope Francis, humanitarian award on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, and numerous proclamations, Man of the Year awards and other forms of recognition -- all of which he accepts to generate public awareness of Caterina's Club.
