Recognized as a glaucoma specialist, Dr. Panzo was the first physician in Central Florida to safely reduce inner eye pressure in patients with certain types of glaucoma by using selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT). He was also selected to introduce to the region several of the most sensitive methods of glaucoma detection available, including HVF and HRT.

Both he and Dr. Courtney Bovee were the first surgeons in Lake and Sumter Counties to implant the CyPass, which lessens the risks associated with glaucoma. Then, he and Dr. Jeffrey Baumann opened the area's first accredited outpatient surgery center specifically for eyes, (spotlighted among the best in the nation by Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today), and in 2008, opened the first eye surgery facility in The Villages.

Academically, Dr. Panzo received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, and his medical degree from Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia in 1979. As part of his learning, his many accomplishments include a fellowship in glaucoma and anterior segment surgery at the University of Iowa.

With an unwavering commitment to his specialty, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

In the past, Dr. Panzo has served as Chief of Surgical Staff at Leesburg Ambulatory Surgical Center, and as Chief Resident at the Cleveland Clinic.
