With just a few months left until the deadline, many business owners still don't know that they can claim the ERTC and how the process works. ERC Echo’s new guide aims to provide businesses with valuable information so that they don’t miss out on the opportunity to claim credits they have the right to.

As ERC Echo’s guide explains, the ERTC is a reward from the government to businesses that kept W-2 employees on the payroll despite challenging times during the pandemic. Those who paid wages between March 2020 and January 2021 could be eligible for this tax credit and have until the 15th of April 2024 to file claims for Q2, Q3, and Q4 of 2020. However, as the guide underlines, it might be wise to hire a CPA to prepare the documents, as making a mistake with the application can, in the worst case, lead to being denied the credit.

The ERTC initiative was clubbed under the CARES Act, and as it’s a relatively new concept, many misconceptions are circulating about who is eligible and not. For example, many businesses are not aware they can claim the ERTC if they already have a PPP loan, says ERC Echo. The guide also straightens out that businesses that started after 2020 could be eligible for 2021 credits.

Readers can also learn that the ERTC for 2020 covers salaries, wages and some health insurance costs, with a cap of $5000 per employee for that year. For 2021, the maximum credit was set higher, meaning businesses could get up to $26,000 per employee to spend on building up their business.

"This significant financial support was designed to aid businesses that kept employees on payroll during the challenging times of the pandemic," said a spokesperson for the company. "Consider this your final boarding call; missing this could mean leaving money on the table that you’re rightfully entitled to."
